My name is Ross. No, that photo is not me. I built this site because I am an average bloke with a wife and kids, and I had depression. After two years of research and with the help of a naturopath I got my life back. I am not a health practitioner, just a pretty good researcher. I'm also about as close to a human guinea pig as you'll find because I've tried just about everything in bringing the Black Dog to heel. 

Depression has many labels. Winston Churchill referred to it as The Black Dog that followed him. Some people just think that they are sometimes moody, some flat, some exhausted, some teary, some angry and some just “got out of the wrong side of the bed”.

I don’t beat around the bush, nor concern myself with labels. I call it what it is - Depression. I know it well, I had it for 2 years, about 5 years ago. I’ve found what I believe is the root cause and the best way to treat it.

This website is a “toolbox” and I'm going to show you how to use the tools and also give you the scientific facts and theories to back up my words. I will give you dozens of real life anecdotes from people I have successfully helped, as well as my own personal ones.

We are all agreed that what you eat, drink and breathe can cause all sorts of nasties, right? There's a million medical studies linking diet and environment with illness.

Scientists tell us serotonin is the chemical that makes you happy. Most people think that serotonin resides in your brain. In actual fact, 90% of your serotonin is in your gut. Yep and your gut is not your stomach, its your colon or large intestine. 

Not only does it reside there, it is made there. So why is it so difficult to understand that your gut health has a major impact on your mental health?

This is where we will spend the rest of our time and efforts to cure your depression.

Tired, hunGry and sad? Relax, your body is hibernating

Depression is YOUR manifestation of inflammatory disease. Some of us have diabetes, some have alzheimers, some have a peanut allergy and some have autoimmune arthritis. You or your loved one has depression.

When you have depression, it is like your body is shutting down some “non-essential services” because it only has enough energy for the essential stuff.

Your body is constantly fighting inflammation. It's trying to get the best out of poor nutrition and trying to eliminate toxins that you are consuming, or slapping on your skin. Your body wants to make you rest and use the available fuel to heal. If your body gets the right fuel, it can start those non-essential services back up. And you can be happy again.

If you are on an antidepressant do not discontinue its use. Antidepressants do work! They just don’t fix the underlying problem.

If you are thinking of going on an antidepressant I would encourage you to do so. I am not against them at all.
